All Terrain Vehicle (ATV Rider Course) 

This one-day program is certified through the Canada Safety Council. This training program, intended for ATV riders over the age of 14, combines classroom and practical training components. Participants, whether riding an ATV for business or pleasure, can benefit greatly by learning key operational skills for safe and efficient use.

 

Basic Confined Space Entry 

This half-day scenario based practicum program is part two of the confined space series. Participants receive advanced means and knowledge to safely retrieve fallen workers, and is aimed at training rescue teams or personnel working in confined spaces. The emphasis is placed on equipment and techniques that enable them to quickly implement an efficient rescue in a variety of possible situations. Topics covered and practiced are rescue procedures and planning, as well as the sequence of events and rescue equipment needed by both the rescuer and casualties.

 

Basic Confined Space Pre-Entry 

This half-day theory based program is part one of the confined space series. Participants receive advanced means and knowledge to safely retrieve fallen workers, and is aimed at training rescue teams or personnel working in confined spaces. Topics covered and practiced are rescue procedures and planning, as well as the sequence of events and rescue equipment needed by both the rescuer and casualties.

 

Basic Confined Space Pre-Entry & Entry 

This one-day package combines part one (theory) and part two (skill-practicum) of the confined space series in one day.

 

Basic High Angle Rescue

This two-day program gives participants the opportunity to receive advanced means and knowledge to safely retrieve fallen workers, and is aimed at training rescue teams or personnel working in elevated positions. The emphasis is placed on equipment and techniques that ensures a quick and efficient rescue in a variety of situations.

 

Basic Line Locating - Tech I 

This one-day program covers the basic principles involved in underground locating, including an overview of the type of problems utility staff regularly encounter and how to solve them. The presentation is generic in nature and does not promote specific makes or models of line locators. The objective is to enlighten utility staff on the increasingly complex functions involved in this important and cost-effective activity. Indeed, a well-informed locator saves time, money and, in some cases, injury.

This two-day program covers the knowledge and skills that a person should possess to conduct competency assessments on identified procedures and tasks. The person will also develop effective coaching and feedback skills.

 

Defensive Driving: 3 Demerit Reduction Program (Alberta)

This six hour informative program uses a full multimedia display with the most up-to-date information available on automotive safety. Participant booklets are included.

 

Emergency First Aid 

This one-day program enables participants to learn basic first aid for common injuries. With this course you will be able to provide assistance to those who are facing life threatening injuries or medical conditions including choking, bleeding, shock and unconsciousness. You will know how to provide artificial respiration, CPR and use an AED.

 

Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Driver Program

Fleet Safety International and Global Training Centre have partnered to develop this two-day program that combines in-class and hands-on driver training. The Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Driver Program helps drivers develop the key attributes and road skills required to be a safe professional driver.

 

Energy Sector Driver Improvement Program

This one-day informative program includes three hours of classroom and four hours of actual in-vehicle training. The classroom portion uses a full multimedia display that provides participants with the most up-to-date information available on automotive safety. Participant booklets are included.

 

Electrical Safety Training System (ESTS) for Non-Electrical Workers

Electrical Safety Training System (ESTS) for Non-Electrical Workers course focuses on workplace electrical safety and the methods used to recognize, identify and avoid the electrical hazards of arc flash and shock.

 

Fall Protection Awareness

This half-day theory awareness program develops a general understanding of the need for Fall Protection. This Awareness course gives a basic knowledge of workplace hazards and measures that can eliminate or mitigate hazards. It covers the responsibilities of a worker working at heights and a general understanding of the End User’s Harness, Connector and Anchor criteria.

 

Fall Protection for the Active User

This one-day program focuses on the needs of the end user for safe work practices in regards to Fall Protection systems. Emphasis is placed on equipment techniques that instill a proactive approach to Fall Protection Safety, as well as taking safety measures that can eliminate or mitigate fall hazards.

 

Fire Warden

This half-day program covers the knowledge and skill a Fire Warden should posses to function in an emergency situation. It can also be enhanced by covering the specific procedures for the client's building.

 

First Aid Firefighter 

This half-day program is designed to meet the needs of a Fire Warden Program, or for personnel in need of very basic training on 30 lb. dry chemical fire extinguisher operations. The program includes classroom theory as well as practical training on Global’s Fire Field.

 

Ground Disturbance Awareness - Online

This online awareness program is designed to ensure personnel are aware of hazards and the necessary items required to ensure safety. Participants are always under the direct guidance of a Level II certified Ground Disturbance Supervisor who has Level II Certification.

 

Ground Disturbance Level I®

This half-day program is designed to ensure personnel are aware of the hazards and necessary items required to ensure safety. Participants are always under the direct guidance of a ground disturbance supervisor with Level II® certification. The Level I® program was designed to meet the regulatory requirements for companies with a massive, fully supervised labour base.

 

Ground Disturbance Level II®

This one-day program is designed for any party that is supervising a Ground Disturbance, independently performing a Ground Disturbance, or issuing and receiving Ground Disturbance permits. The program ensures that Level II® personnel are familiar with, and fully understand, all the regulations and variances involved when a ground disturbance takes place.

 

Ground Disturbance Level II® Alberta - Online 

This online program was built on the success and content of the current Global Training Centre Ground Disturbance Level II classroom program.

 

Ground Disturbance Level II® - British Columbia

This program was built on the success and content of the current Global Training Centre Ground Disturbance Level II® standardized program. It ensures that personnel are familiar with, and full understand, all best practices and regulations involved when a ground disturbance takes place. 

 

Ground Disturbance Level II® - Manitoba

This program was built on the success and content of the current Global Training Centre Ground Disturbance Level II® standardized program. It ensures that personnel are familiar with, and full understand, all best practices and regulations involved when a ground disturbance takes place. 

 

Ground Disturbance Train the Trainer

To date, Global Training Centre has assisted thousands of clients in their training requirements worldwide, and has become renowned for the quality and standards that back each program. These standards are the basic agreements to which all Licensee instructors operate to provide confidence in program consistency, regardless of location or party delivering the program.

 

Ground Disturbance Level II® BC - Virtual Instructor-Led Training (vILT)

This is a virtually delivered program of the current BCCGA 201 Endorsed Ground Disturbance Level II® program. It is broken into two sessions - 8am-12pm(PDT) on day 1 and 8am-12pm(PDT) on day 2. It contains the same learning objectives and content as our in-class program.

 

H2S Awareness Online Training

This one-day program teaches individuals to protect themselves in places where hydrogen sulphide may be present. Participants must satisfactorily complete a written examination and demonstrate the skills taught.

 

H2S Alive® (ENERGY SAFETY CANADA)

This one-day program teaches individuals to protect themselves in places where hydrogen sulphide may be present. Participants must satisfactorily complete a written examination and demonstrate the skills taught.

 

Hazard Assessment and Control

This half-day program provides basic knowledge and skills to identify and control work place hazards, analyze the risks, and apply control strategies to eliminate or reduce hazardous conditions and unsafe practices in the workplace.

 

Hazard Awareness Online Training

This course helps learners identify potential hazards in the workplace using various hazard identification tools, with the goal of preventing incidents from occurring. The course examines the different preventative measures and proactive reporting methods that can be taken to eliminate or reduce the chance of an incident occurring.

 

Hazard Identification

This half-day program provides a basic understanding of the loss exposure created by day-to-day activities in any organization. Equipment and facilities wear out, increasing the risk of accidents.

 

Incident Investigation - Level I

This one-day program is an introduction to incident investigation intended for first line or developing leaders. Learning the steps of the investigation management / investigation process from preparedness, initial response, conducting investigations, analysis through to developing effective recommendations for prevention of reoccurrence. An expected take away for leaders is clearer understanding of the “what” and “why” of investigation critical components.

 

Incident Investigation - Level II

This two-day Incident Investigation course is intended for those that are expected to directly participate or lead incident investigations. Following the same staged format as the basic program only delving deeper into each stage of the process for more activity based learning and focus on the various investigation team member critical tasks and accountabilities. The take away for this program is not only refresher for “what” and ‘why” but more focus on “how” to manage and ensure the “product“ of investigation is accurate.

 

Industrial Fire I - Exercise 1

This half-day program was developed to offer general knowledge in the use, care and maintenance of a 30 lb. fire extinguisher. The program includes classroom theory as well as practical training on Global’s Fire Field.

 

Industrial Fire I - Exercise 2 

This half-day program was developed to offer general knowledge in the use, care and maintenance of a 30 lb. fire extinguisher. The program includes classroom theory as well as practical training on Global’s Fire Field.

 

Industrial Fire II 

This half-day program provides the necessary knowledge in the use, care and maintenance of 30 lb. to 350 lb. fire extinguishers. The program includes classroom theory as well as practical training on Global’s Fire Field.

 

Industrial Rescue I

This one-day program is an introduction to the confined space environment. The pre-entry portion expands on the perception of what a confined space is, and the hazards to be expected when working in or around them. The foundation for safe work habits associated with industrial work sites is introduced.

 

Industrial Rescue II

This two-day program is an introduction to elevated rescue techniques used in industrial settings. It begins with developing an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of various tools and equipment used in the high angle environment, and then moves onto the mastery of the current knots and hitches that make these rigging systems work.

 

Industrial Rescue III

This three-day program incorporates elements from the confined space and high angle environments, and expands on rope work skills. The program includes classroom theory and practical exercises. Prerequisite courses are Industrial Rescue Levels I & II.

 

Industrial Rescue IV

This four-day program is aimed at developing rescue team dynamics, with leadership and problem solving the focus. Through a series of practical exercises, participants are placed into each team position and must use the skills developed in Industrial Rescue I, Il and III to solve scenario-driven rescue problems.

 

Introduction to Fall Protection 

This half-day program develops a general understanding of what fall protection is. Emphasis is placed on equipment and techniques that in still a proactive approach to fall protection safety. The responsibilities of both employer and worker are covered, as well as the regulations governing fall protection.

 

Introduction to NORM

This half-day program is designed to ensure oil and gas personnel are aware of what a Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) is, what its health and safety effects, and what practices may be used to deal with it effectively.

 

Large Truck Rescue Symposium

This two-day theory and hands on course will allow students to think outside the box, apply their skill and knowledge to real world extrication situations when dealing with large scale truck and trailer incidents. This course will bring to light how under-utilized their own fire departments may be when it comes to responding to these types of incidents. The students will come away with options and suggestions of ways they can prepare ahead of time to respond to the inevitable large scale truck and trailer collision. Bus extrication will also be part of the curriculum.

 

Light Hydrocarbons and Hazardous Atmospheres 

This half-day program describes the effects and hazards associated with sweet gas exposure in the workplace, with emphasis on controlling and understanding the hazard.

 

Man in Machine

This one-day program covers a variety of machinery-entrapment situations, which rescue personnel may be called to respond to. Students will participate in these scenarios from scene sizeup until the disentanglement is complete. The lock out/tag out procedure, equipment options, and medical concerns are among the topics covered.

 

Manual Material Handling

This half-day program teaches basic awareness of how to handle materials and heavy loads in a way that protects one of the most important areas of the body, the back. The course discusses how a healthy back functions, types of back injury and their common causes, the three basic steps for lifting simple objects, dealing with complex loads and tricky lifts, and six questions to ask yourself prior to attempting any lift.

 

Mentally Active Driving Program 

This half-day program provides participants with the most up-to-date information available on automotive safety. Each participant receives in-vehicle training that includes an evaluation to pinpoint their weak areas and coaching for improvement. Commentary while driving teaches participants to keep their minds on the driving task.

 

Energy Safety Canada Confined Space 

This one-day program includes an instructor led PowerPoint presentation, class exercises, and videos. The duration of the course is 7 hours and includes a mandatory written theory test (English only).

 

Fall Protection (Energy Safety Canada)

Falls from height are among the most common causes of serious work-related injuries and deaths in the workplace. This comprehensive fall protection training was developed to meet the highest standards for training in most Canadian jurisdictions using Canadian Standards Associations (CSA) Z259. Designed to educate the worker in the planning, use, care and implementation of common fall protection systems, it includes both theory and practical application exercises. Participants will engage in hands-on training activities, including inspecting, fitting, adjusting and connecting fall protection systems and components.

 

Overhead Crane Safety Awareness

This one-day program provides a foundational understanding of overhead crane safety. Emphasis is placed on knowledge and practical skills required by overhead crane operators. By utilizing a “hazard assessment” model to approach lifting, the student is equipped to approach lifting tasks proactively. The responsibilities of both employer and worker are covered, as well as the regulations governing overhead cranes and safe rigging practices.

Pigging Awareness

This half-day program raises the participant’s awareness in handling pigging operations. Participants are led through the various stages of a pipeline, from construction to final abandonment, and the pigging uses during each stage.

 

Safe Excavating & Trenching

This half-day theory-based program highlights the components of undertaking a trenching or excavation activity. The program is designed to ensure that personnel are familiar with and fully understand all regulations involved when trenching or excavating activities take place.

 

Soil Management

This half-day program enables participants to identify different soil types, soil forming factors and general construction practices to be used to minimize soil degradation throughout Alberta.

 

Spill Responder

This one-day program provides a basic understanding and appropriate responses associated with spills. Participants are led through industry practices related to spill characteristics, behavior and environment impact.

 

Blended Standard First Aid

Our new blended first aid courses follows the same success Global has had with its innovative training programs that saves up to 50% of your work hour and travel costs. This unique program provides the hands-on training that brings increased learning retention.
 
Our blended Standard First Aid course provides training to respond to a medical emergency either on the job or at home. Start your training with the online theory, this approach provides flexibility as you can train when and where you want. You can complete your Standard First Aid Certificate with in-class learning and assessing practical skills. Please bring your proof of completion, which you can print upon completing the online portion, to the classroom practical portion.

 

Standard First Aid Recertification 

This one-day recertification program is for individuals who currently possess a valid Standard Frist Aid & CPR certification. This program reviews the essential modules required for first aid certification, while providing a unique first aid training concept that utilizes less theory and workbooks, and more scenarios and practical applications. The practical modules are unique in that participants respond to several mock-ups using live 'casualties'. No other first aid course has been presented with such enthusiasm and motivation among participants!

 

Standard First Aid

This two-day program covers the essential modules required for first aid certification, while providing a unique first aid training concept that utilizes less theory and workbooks, and more scenarios and practical applications. The practical modules are unique in that participants respond to several mock-ups using live ‘casualties’.

 

Summer Student Driving Program

This half-day defensive driving program provides participants with the most up-to-date information available on automotive safety. Each participant receives in-vehicle training, including an evaluation to pinpoint their weak areas and coaching for improvement. Commentary while driving teaches participants to keep their minds on the driving task. The summer student program has a 2:1 student to instructor ratio.

 

Train the Trainer Level 1

This five-day program is structured to provide a competency assessment to ensure quality of instruction and a quality control process that includes qualifications, experience, delivery and certification standards.

 

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)

This program is for individuals involved in the transportation and handling of dangerous goods. Emphasis is placed on proper safety marks for dangerous goods that the participants would normally transport. Proper labeling, classification, documentation and vehicle inspection for TDG compliance is covered in detail.

 

TDG/WHMIS (GHS) Online Training Bundle

This bundle pack includes both Danatec's full TDG Online Training Program and Award-Winning WHMIS Online Training Program. Successful completion will grant students personalized, colour wallet certificates for both Transportation of Dangerous Goods Training and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System Training and a digital badge.

 

Waste Management

This half-day program was developed to provide a basic understanding of Guide 58. The instructor leads participants through the new regulations pertaining to waste management, common industry practices, and a systematic approach to tracking your wastes from cradle to grave.

 

Workplace Violence & Harassment Prevention & Response

Alberta employers are responsible to conduct hazard assessments, provide training, create prevention plans, undertake investigations and provide support to employees experiencing abuse at work.  This engaging and comprehensive course covers all of the mandatory requirements and provides the tools necessary to compliance.
 
 

WHMIS (GHS) Online Training

This award-winning, industry-recognized WHMIS online training course is for initial or re-certification training. This course meets all of Health Canada’s training requirements under the Hazardous Products Regulations, for all persons involved in handling workplace chemicals.

 

Wildlife Awareness 

This half-day program presents information and strategies to anticipate and prevent encounters in the outdoors. Whether you are in outdoor environments for business or pleasure, this course will bring awareness of safe practices and teach you how to avoid unnecessary and dangerous situations. This is an interactive course, practicing the latest techniques in a hands-on matter.

 

Winter Driving Awareness 

This half-day informative classroom program provides participants with the most up-to-date information available on automotive safety. Each participant receives in-vehicle training that includes an evaluation to pinpoint their weak areas and coaching for improvement. Commentary while driving teaches participants to keep their minds on the driving task.

 

Proactive Driver Training 

This one-day informative program includes three hours of classroom and four hours of actual in-vehicle training. The classroom portion uses a full multimedia display that provides participants the most up-to-date information available on automotive safety. Participant booklets are included.

 

H2S and Other Toxic Atmospheres / Hazardous Atmospheres

This half-day program teaches participants basic awareness of hazards created by a toxic atmosphere - H2S is a common hazard. Physical properties, toxicity levels, initial response scales and (actual incident) case studies are covered with each participant team analyzing their own case. Emphasis is on the proactive (i.e., what went wrong and how to prevent this from happening again). The online course provides the knowledge without team activities used in class.

 

Bear Awareness Online Training

The Bear Awareness online course offers a comprehensive education. Utilizing interactive audio, pictures, narrations, simulations, videos, quizzes and a final exam, the BearAwareness will equip individuals with the knowledge of the types of bears in Alberta, their habits and habitat, and how you can keep safe when venturing into bear country for work or play.

 

BC Dig Safe Seminar

A one day session that covers all you need to know about ground disturbance including: regulatory updates, BC One Call requirements, excavation safety, hydrovac and locate demonstration. Sessions in Surrey and Kelowna.

OH&S Overview (Occupational Health & Safety)

This half-day program introduces the OH&S outline and participants are given a copy of the OH&S Act, Regulations and Code to use. This course is aimed at ensuring that employees know that they – along with their employers – are responsible for the regulations. The course also gives participants experience in sourcing information and understanding the OH&S Act, Regulations and Code.

 

Respiratory Protection

This half-day program gives participants basic knowledge in the use, care and maintenance of different types of respiratory protection, with emphasis on self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The online program gives participants basic knowledge in the use, care and maintenance of different types of respiratory protection, with emphasis on breathing apparatuses.

 

Gas Detection Tech I / Gas Testing

This half-day in class program covers all the components of gas testing, including hand-held detectors, single toxic gas monitors, multi gas monitors, continuous gas monitors and LEL monitors. Participants learn their limitations, the equipment’s limits and common mistakes involved with gas testing. The course stresses the importance of a function test before operation of any gas monitor. Participant teams will function test and test all the monitors, except the continuous monitor, for proper operation. This program is commonly tailored for site-specific toxic atmospheres, in addition to H2S and LEL.
 
The online course provides gas detection knowledge. The Blended option provides full certification as participants attain the knowledge online, then attend a class where they use the equipment.

 

Joint Health & Safety Committees and Representatives Online Training

This e-learning program will introduce the Alberta workforce to joint work site health and safety committees (HSCs) and health and safety representatives (H&S reps). This program was developed to aid employers and employees with their transition to comply with Alberta’s updated Occupational Health & Safety Act. Employers will meet their requirements by ensuring committee members and representatives are competently trained and participants will receive a two hour credit toward their annual mandatory training and a certificate of completion.

Receive all of your Safety 2000® certifications in less days, and for a much lower price! Instead of attending our facility for 5 days, the blended learning format allow the learner to complete some of the training online, and then attend for days of Instructor-Led Training.

 

H2S Alive® Blended Renewal (ENERGY SAFETY CANADA)

If you have a current H2S Alive certificate, you qualify for the H2S Alive Blended Renewal course.

The practical assessment must be completed within 90 days of completing the online theory portion.
