Introduction to NORM
This half-day program is designed to ensure oil and gas personnel are aware of what a Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) is, what its health and safety effects, and what practices may be used to deal with it effectively. Emphasis is placed on detecting radiation, decontamination, safe work practices and dealing with waste materials, all using the guiding principle of reduce radiation to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
The competencies of this program are tested and measured through 100% participation of the learning objectives. Participants must achieve a minimum 70% pass mark on a written competency exam.
