Respiratory Protection

This half-day program gives participants basic knowledge in the use, care and maintenance of different types of respiratory protection, with emphasis on self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The training includes hands-on use of SCBA and SABA, while the online course provides the knowledge. 

NOTE: This program alone is not equivalent to the Energy Safety Canada's H2S Alive® program. It is commonly used in the modular Safety 2000® program, or as a stand-alone program for companies wishing additional competency in respiratory protection not provided in the H2S Alive® program.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain types of respiratory protection
  • Define need for respiratory protection
  • Define need for corporate Code of Practice
  • Clarify the components of SCBA and SABA
  • Demonstrate proper donning and doffing of both SCBA and SABA
  • Demonstrate proper maintenance and storage of both SCBA and SABA

Competencies

Participants are required to complete Energy Safety Canada's written and practical competency checks to minimum 70% level, to obtain a pass mark (must also successfully complete the other components of the Energy Safety Canada's H2S Alive Program),
OR
Participants are required to complete the Global written and practical competency checks to a minimum 70% pass level in order to obtain a pass mark.
