Contractor Safety Performance
Contractors are a constant and integral part of most companies. The contractor provides individual risks and benefits that need to be integrated into the corporate culture. The expectation of the company to the contractor and the types of performance evaluations are shared. This module will covers how the contractor performance evaluation process works, and companies’ responsibilities for the contractor's safety performance.

Facility Risk Management
The risk management process is described, and the components required for various types of risk assessment are explained. Types of risk assessments that are required and/or beneficial, and how to develop mitigation plans for identified risks are covered. The use of informal risk assessments is encouraged by motivating key personnel to participate in risk assessments.

Facility Walk Throughs and Safety Attests
When management walks through facilities, they often miss what site personnel see as an obvious safety risk. As a result, a mistaken impression is created that management does not care. This module explains the purpose of the facility walk through, and the differences between safety verification and safety assessment. Also covered is ways to mitigate negative perceptions of the work site to the walk through.

Human Factor Incident Prevention
An understanding of how human factors directly impact the performance and safety of workers. How human factors are design related, and how human error ties to the human factors relation is covered, along with a list of examples of human error in operations. Management is made aware of how to motivate operations to identify and reduce the exposures and human factors issues within their supervisors’ and work sites.

Incident Investigation Analysis and Sharing
The basic steps in an incident investigation are covered so managers are able to recognize and distinguish the quality of the investigation. Managing incident information by using the systemic or root cause to prevent a similar incident occurring is also covered. Communication requirements for investigation and sharing of contractor incidents is taught.

Incident Management
This module outlines incident reporting guidelines and the different classifications aligned with the corporate reporting requirements. Strong emphasis is placed on the rehabilitation philosophy by ensuring the restricted work program is understood and utilized to the fullest extent. This module is not designed to teach reaction to an emergency, but rather to encourage the proper response at management/supervisory levels.

Managing Interfaces
Managers interface with different levels of their organization daily, and this is often a challenge. This module provides the tools for managing the differing and critical interfaces within the work environment, and explains how to create an atmosphere that is conducive to effective interfaces.

Managing Personnel Performance Issues
This module explains how to identify safety performance issues while ensuring that a true analysis is done as to the cause of the performance issue. The three causes of performance issues are clearly defined from human error to erosion of standards to direct violation. The actions and roles for applying discipline are tied together with coaching and mentoring towards the improved goal. Although this module is targeted towards improving safety performance issues, the principles of personal performance issues applies to all levels of personnel and the related performance issues.

Off-The-Job Safety
Employees are anywhere from 10 to 16 times more likely to sustain a disabling injury off the job than on the job. As companies, our role in relation to both human and corporate considerations must be managed to reduce this loss. The need for our input and management of off-the-job injuries and how they impact the work site is explained. From there, the methods for managing off-the-job safety and how to develop and implement plans to address off-the-job safety are described.

Pre-Job Safety Planning
Managing the work place through pre-job planning in order to reduce risks has become crucial to every company. The use of pre-job planning to increase the workforce’s understanding of risk and the appropriate risk mitigation is tied together with the use of an appropriate tool, such as a Mental Planning (i.e. Stop and Think, Step back take 5), JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis), and more formal processes of procedures.

Proactive Reporting and Leading Indicators
The use of proactive reporting is proven to prevent losses. The role of proactive reporting within the organization and what management can expect the report to accomplish in relation to an incident is covered. Management is led through the process of fostering an environment that encourages participation in the proactive reporting process.

Safety Meetings
Upper management has an important leadership role within the safety meeting process. This module explains the purpose, planning and different types of safety meetings, as well as the role of the manager in front of the team. This is a highly motivated session that concentrates dramatically on delivering the message right!

Safety Performance Improvement
This module outlines the continuous improvement cycle and explains how to apply the continuous improvement process within the company as a whole. Participants are shown how to use basic tools to ensure data collection and analysis is performed, and the complete continuous improvement policy is applied to improve safety results. Due diligence requirements of management and the importance of appropriately managing the safety issues is also covered.

Short Service Workers
Management must understand the risks associated with short service workers. This module clearly identifies and outlines methods for mitigating these risks. The components of a successful short service worker program as well as implementing a contractor SSW program are also covered.

Train The Trainer
This comprehensive 32-hour course provides employees, managers and trainers with the most effective adult learning skills to ensure maximum retention.

The program combines theory and practical, with each participant becoming skilled at creating effective lesson plans for any topic and teaching a class with measurable retention of their students. The program follows the proven methodology used universally by professional fire fighters to ensure complete comprehension of critical information for hands-on use in live applications. Skills gained in this program can be used to teach adults in formal or off-the-job environments, and to provide more effective results from meetings when retention of data is required.

Upon successful completion of a written exam and personal presentation, each participant receives a certificate of completion and recognition as a “Train the Trainer Instructor.” They then qualify to take other Global Training Centre programs to be certified to teach specific disciplines upon successful completion.

Workforce Motivation
In these times of constant change, the challenge for management is keeping the workplace motivated towards their goals. This module explains that motivation must be planned, by using activators, behaviours and consequences to achieve a target behaviour. Management is taught to recognize and characterize individuals and sites with poor motivation, and how to provide visible leadership to change this motivation. Participants will develop a personal slogan to demonstrate this commitment. The instructor will cover the need for reward and recognition, and how to join this together effectively with constructive feedback to ensure standards and qualities are always upheld. 

Understanding The Fundamentals Of Safety
An outline of the safety fundamentals with an explanation of the interaction of systems, facilities and the people involved. Corporate perspectives and beliefs in safety are also outlined.

Workforce Safety Competence
Workforce competency and the differing states of the workforce progression models are defined. Methods for maintaining competency and factors affecting competency within the worksite are revealed. The abilities of the human, in relation to competency retention, are covered to reduce the repeated mistake of unreasonable expectations of the worker.
