Accident/Incident Investigation - Level I
This one-day program is designed to ensure personnel are aware of the main components necessary to conduct a basic accident/incident investigation. The first responder to the scene must start and, a majority of times the time, complete the investigation on behalf of the company. This program teaches the basic step-by-step procedure for approaching the scene and performing the investigation. It is estimated that for every serious accident, hundreds of incidents (near misses) will occur. Investigating all accidents/incidents, regardless of severity, contributes to the identification of the basic causes, corrective actions and preventive controls, which reduces future accidents. A Level I participant is not expected to perform a serious injury, major loss or fatality investigation without support from a fully trained Level II supervisor. Participants are able to explain what an accident/incident is, their frequency and cost. They are able to recognize and use the initial response to the scene. Guidelines for effective interviewing are reviewed. Participants learn to collect evidence using the four P’s – People, Parts, Position and Paper, participate in a mock accident/incident investigation, and complete the appropriate information in an accident/investigation report.
Objectives are tested by both practical demonstration and written competency exam. Certification, valid for three years, is issued upon completion of objectives.
Accident/Incident Investigation - Level II
The Level II course is a three-day program, with the first day encompassing the Level I program. Level II is designed for personnel conducting a major accident/incident investigation and/or personnel designated to perform investigations. Participants are taught to direct their activities towards defining the facts and circumstances related to the event, determining the causes and developing remedial actions to control the risks. Participants identify and use at least one method for preserving position evidence. They also learn to use nine (9) guidelines for effective interviewing, and participate in and/or conduct an interview. Participants become skilled at identifying parts evidence, paper evidence contained in various records, and applying a loss causation/problem-solving model for analyzing evidence. They also identify losses, contacts, immediate causes, basic causes and lack of control in the accident. Participants develop and categorize specific remedial actions as either “temporary” or “permanent”, and participate in mock accident/incident investigations, including completing the appropriate information in an accident investigation report.
Objectives are tested by both practical demonstration and written competency exam. Certification, valid for three years, is issued upon completion of objectives.
Hazard Identification
This half-day program provides a basic understanding of the loss exposure created by day-to-day activities in any organization. Equipment and facilities do wear out, and, this wear and tear increases the risk of accidents too high. Inspections can detect such exposures in a timely manner, allowing for the fact that people, equipment, materials and the environment are constantly changing. Participants are led through the inspection process, with emphasis on using the inspection to be proactive in identifying hazards. Participants learn to identify the goals of inspection programs, ways to encourage employee involvement in informal inspections, and how to establish methods of gathering and analyzing information. They participate in a mock accident/incident investigation, and complete the appropriate information in an accident investigation report
Objectives are tested by both practical demonstration and written competency exam. Certification, valid for three years, is issued upon completion of objectives.

Mentorship and Coaching
Companies worldwide share a common challenge in today’s business environment. They often face the task of shifting the thinking of management away from believing they must direct people based on data and feeling a need to have all the answers. Effective managers today have become facilitators who develop human potential.
Leadership is the core of business management; therefore, the quality of leadership is the most critical ingredient in the success of the business. Productivity increases and improves as managers increasingly understand the human factor and deal effectively with fears, uncertainties, doubts and motivational blocks. Consistent performance and improved productivity begins in the minds of employees, and is a direct result of their thinking.

Safety Essentials for Supervisors and Managers
The objective of the SEFSAM program is to provide management and supervisors with the skill, knowledge and desire to lead their workforce in achieving an injury-free environment.
Although these words are commonly spoken, rarely do we give our management the tools and capabilities to easily interact and understand the needs of the front line to achieve this goal. Typically as an industry, we do a very good job of training our personnel on how to do the task, but as management, we require the big picture to understand why we are doing it or how it fits in. We often neglect to teach our front line supervisors how to motivate their workforce to obtain this result.
This motivating 17-module program helps management tie together the necessary components of safety into the management scope, and assists the supervisor/manager in facilitating this interaction into their operations. Everything from the basic fundamentals of safety to advanced human factors awareness in engineering is covered. Special emphasis is placed on how to create the desire in the workplace towards these changes.
A needs assessment was conducted with the largest petroleum company in the world and it was determined that the required skills and knowledge could be organized into 17 modules or skill sets. These 17 modules were developed for delivery in either a modular format or a comprehensive instructor-led 3.5-day package. The modular format allows each company to concentrate on the immediate needs as well as long-term learnings or requirements, while providing efficient use of management time. It is also understood that each company may have varying degrees of safety skills and knowledge, so a training needs assessment tool was developed to help in assessing and determining which modules they would benefit the most from.
This unique program has been attended by managers throughout North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Africa and Australia, all with the same rave reviews and comments that the program is greatly needed at this level of the company.
We at Global Training Centre welcome the opportunity to discuss how this program can enhance your operations, and the many benefits your company will achieve by taking the next step in achieving the zero (injury-free) goal.
Time Management
Time management has been in existence for more than 100 years. Unfortunately, the term "time management" creates a false impression of what a person is able to do. Time cannot be managed, time is uncontrollable; we can only manage our own selves and our own use of time.
In reality, time management is self-management. It’s interesting to note that the skills we require to manage others are the same skills we need to manage ourselves, i.e., the ability to plan, delegate, organize, direct and control.
Time management training courses and workshops help delegates increase work effectiveness and productivity, achieve greater control of daily activities and overcome work stressors.
This course touches on the following topics:
- Time Wasters
- Day Planners and Goals
- It’s Your Life
