Advanced Fire Extinguisher Applications
This 16-hour course is conducted under the same schedule, supervisory support and practical as the Industrial Fire Fighter #2, and provides the additional benefit of a fire etc. (formerly Alberta Fire Training School) Certification, which is recognized worldwide by the National Fire Protection Association.
Objectives are tested by both practical demonstration and a written competency exam. Certification, valid for three years, is issued upon completion of objectives.
Fire Extinguisher Maintenance
This 3.5 to four-hour course is designed to acquaint the participant with basic skills pertaining to the use, care and maintenance of fire extinguishers. Classification of fires, fire extinguishing agents, and the characteristics of 5 lb., 20 lb. and 30 lb. stored pressure and cartridge-operated fire extinguishers are explained. Participants are able to define the correct use of a 30 lb. fire extinguisher, and can demonstrate the proper inspection and storage.
Objectives are tested by both practical demonstration and a written competency exam. Certification, valid for three years, is issued upon completion of objectives.
First Aid Fire Fighter
This half-day program is designed to meet the needs of a Fire Warden Program, or personnel in need of very basic training on 30 lb. dry chemical fire extinguisher operations. The one-hour classroom theory covers classes of extinguishers, basic elements of a fire, fire chemical agents, operation of a 30 lb. cartridge-operated fire extinguisher and the knowledge that fires will happen. Each participant reviews practical fire field evolutions, and successfully extinguishes two fires with a 30 lb. dry chemical extinguisher and, as a team, successfully extinguishes one fire using 30 lb. extinguishers.
Objectives are tested by both practical demonstration and a written competency exam. Certification, valid for three years, is issued upon completion of objectives.
Industrial Fire Fighter #1
